You can refine your search on the results page after the search term text box on the right.
You can specify if you want to use only “Google” search or “Google and partners.” Just “Google” is OK.
Also, you can specify the time range you want to see the results.
Under the search box, you can “Broaden your search” with more keywords that the tool thinks can help you.
You can click the “filter” icon to change the final results. By default, the “Exclude adult results” filter is already active.
On the right, you will see the [Columns] button, allowing you to add more columns or remove the existing ones from the results.
Near the [Columns] button, you have a view selector.
“Keyword view,” a default, will show you all the keywords as is in the results.
“Grouped view” will show you all the keywords grouped logically.

Suppose we return to our search term “car” in Google Adsese Keyword Planner. In that case, we will see many car manufacturer brands and car models besides keywords that relate directly to the word “car.” Maybe you don’t want to see the ideas that don’t directly link to the term “car,” so “Grouped view” can help you with that. If you don’t want to see any terms that aren’t directly related to “car,” you can click “add filter.”
Select [Keyword] from the pop-up menu.

You will see only the keywords containing the “car” in them.

Google Adsense Keyword Planner lets you save the results as CSV or Google Sheets by clicking the “Export” icon in the top right corner of the screen.

Calculating the Total Average Monthly Searches

Typically, you would summarize all the average numbers in each keyword. For example, two keywords:

So, summarizing the exact average numbers would be 500000 + 50000, which results in 550000 Average monthly searches for these two keywords. But how do you automate it for hundreds of keywords?

Open the CSV file that you exported with all the keyword results. In this example, we’ll use Microsoft Excel.
In this CSV file, all the numbers in the “Avg. monthly searches” column are already the average between the range we saw in the results, making it easier for us.
Selecting the first row under the “Avg. monthly searches” column typically should show you the “C4” cell if you didn’t change anything in the settings or columns before export.
Scroll down to the last row. For example, we’ll use the “C1350” cell.
Now select the “C1351” cell and write this function:

=SUM(C4:C1350)

Press [Enter].
This action should show you the total.
